21 Days && Counting.

Hi! So I decided since I am moving to Hawaii in 21 days, I should document my experiences there. I will be attending school in Hawaii for Winter Semester, which is the perfect time to go. Summer is so much better than Winter anyway. I will be there for 105 days and will document it by each day I'm here.

ANYWAY. I figured I should share my story before actually leaving, since everything has fallen right into place for me to go.

I applied to go to school here for Winter semester at 11:30 on a Friday night, (haha I know, right) just for the fun of it. Being a Communication major, I applied knowing that I could not graduate school from there because they don't have my major. I just wanted to be a visiting student. So I went online that night and submitted my application right around midnight. There is a 4 hour difference between us and Hawaii, so it was 8:00 p.m. their time. I then went to sleep and thought nothing more of it.

The next day, I realized that I had forgotten to request my transcript, so I went online to request that information. As I signed in, I saw that I was already admitted. I was in complete shock. Not only was it in less than 24 hours since I had applied, but it was the weekend. I had no idea that they even worked on Saturday. I then was so excited I could hardly sleep that night. I was going to Hawaii.

So I told EVERYONE that I was going to Hawaii, except Hawaii. I totally forgot to send in my acceptance letter. While working for my Dad over the break, my mom called me during work to tell me that I needed fax or mail my acceptance to Hawaii within 30 days. I had 4 days left when we found this out. My mom came to pick me up that day, with my acceptance letter to fax over to Hawaii. I have no idea what I would have done if I didn't send it in. I would have been crushed, people.

As we looked closer at the requirements to come, we found that I needed to send over my shot list like I did to go to elementary. Having moved in the past 4 years, and also having no idea where they would be anyway, we had to track down my shot records. I also needed a certain amount and kind of shots, which amazingly I had all required to go to school. We got a hold of them and faxed them off to Hawaii the next day. I am so so SO grateful for the fax machine. It has helped me so much in these last few months.

For housing, we went with a place that was recommended to me by 3 different people, so I applied to live there. I was put on a waiting list and was told that I would know by October if I would have a spot there or not. I was now back at school for the Fall and I became busy with friends and school that I forgot about the whole housing situation. When I'm in school, I never EVER check my email. It's not something that I do. One Tuesday, my mom called me asking if I had received an email from Hawaii. Telling her that I never check my email, she went on to tell me that she had just got off the phone with someone from housing saying that they had not heard from me, and were wondering if I still wanted the spot to live there. They needed a response by Friday or my spot would go to next person on the list. Thankfully they called, or else I would have been a beach bum for that semester. House or not, I am going to Hawaii!!

As I've looked back on all of these experiences, I can't believe how everything has come together. I really believe that I am meant go there and I'm excited to experience everything that's about to happen. I'm not very good at documenting things, but I'm really going to try with this blog. Don't be shocked if this is the only entry tho haha.

3 weeks. 21 days. can't wait:)
