Day 529: Christmas Break.

I’m officially back from Christmas vaca. My family and I spent Christmas in Kauai and it was so nice only flying 20 minutes to get there. But seriously. Can I ever sit by someone cool on the plane? Just once. I travel all the time and I NEVER sit by someone who I would actually like to sit next to. I always sit next to old men. No joke. 40-60 is usually the age limit the last few times I’ve flown. Drives me nuts. My mom actually sat next to the hot guy on our plane from Oahu to Kauai. I would have traded with her if not for the fact that it would have had been so obvious. I was next to a guy in his late 40s. Of course. I’ve come to terms with it. I guess it’s better than sitting next to the crying baby or a child.

Anyway, we spent a week on Kauai and then another week on Oahu. Kauai is extremely country. It’s nice to visit, but not somewhere I would want to be permanently. We went to the beach, did some hikes, went to the Farmers Market where I got an ice cold coconut, and spent time as a family. We are not all together often, and it was nice being together for Christmas. For Christmas I got a bunch of new clothes, a purse, an iTunes gift card, 2 new books to read, Season 2 of Modern Family, and an underwater camera. So stoked to start using it! Taking pictures underwater are the best. It’s rare to get a photogenic one haha. While I was there, I made a video of our Kauai trip and it’s totally cheesy, but it was so fun making haha.

We came back to Oahu where we went to luaus, the beach, shopped, Pearl Harbor, all the touristy attractions and loved every minute of it. Oh, and I felt like I was 16 one day because I officially got my Hawaii drivers license! Local kine. They made me take the written that I was so scared of taking because I was afraid I might not pass. It’s been YEARS since I’ve even looked at the drivers ed manual. Now I know how to drive, but there are sometimes stupid questions on the test that I have no idea the answers to. Like, "How soon should you turn on your blinker before you turn?" What is the right answer?! Seriously. I took the test and gave it to the DMV woman to grade and waited for the verdict. If you fail, you have to come back a week later to try again. There was a line in front of me and the woman at the DMV would call your name and tell you whether or not you passed. And she was not quiet about it. There were two people in front of me where I would hear her practically yell in her thick Hawaiian accent, “You did not pass, come back next week to try again” and another, “Too many errors today!” Luckily when she called my name, she told me “Congratulations you passed.” I smiled and this was the end result.

I got it on my 2 year anniversary of moving to Hawaii, which also means I have not seen snow in 2 years now. It’s kind of crazy, but I don’t know how well I’ll do in snow now. I grew up with it, but now that I’m so use to warm weather, I don’t think I really want to go back to winter. I enjoy being warm year round. I’m turning into a Hawaii snob haha.

Okay I now regret not writing everything down earlier because Christmas break seems like a blur now and I feel like I’m leaving out a lot. Christmas break was awesome and I had a lot fun, but I’m glad to start a new semester. I have a good vibe about 2012. Tomorrow is the first day of school, and I hate the first day of school. Not my thing. Asdjklf; It will be okay tho. I’m ready for it. I do need to look over my schedule tonight tho, I haven’t thought about it since I registered for classes in November.
